This weekend, I went to the movie theater to watch the new Superman movie. When I was younger, I collected comics feverishly. I bought whatever drew my attention now that I had money burning a hole in my pocket. But comics from DC and Marvel can be a hard thing to get into, years of backlog intimidating for any newbie comic reader wanting to read American comics. So I started with the classics. The graphic novels that collected different writers' and artists' renditions of superheroes like Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Spider-Man, X-Men, Wolverine, etc. This started my love for superhero comics. Watching Superman (2025) gave me that same feeling I had when I read superhero comics for the first time. In particular, Superman (2025) embodies the best version of Clark Kent from the hours of comics I read about Superman. It got me inspired to put more work into my creative, fictional worlds. If you haven't watched Superman (2025), I highly recommend you watch it. On WritingFor this week, I wrote two essays based on what I learned from Steal Like An Artist. You can read them here: I plan to continue to work through Steal Like An Artist and impart to you any information you might find valuable for your own creative work. The goal for Week 29 is to write two essays based on what I learned from reading Steal Like An Artist, and write at least 1,000 words for a short fiction story. On DesignSomething I learned about design is that you don't always need to follow strict rules to create designs that communicate an idea. Rules help in the beginning. But as you develop your skills, it becomes easier to get a feel for what you want to achieve. I think I managed to achieve that in the following designs: Let me know what you think. The goal for Week 29 is to create two graphic design pieces by the end of the week and continue to learn about design. On IllustrationNow, I have nothing to show here. However, I did manage to sketch for at least 15 minutes every day. If you are curious where I am learning how to draw, you can check out Artwod. The goal for Week 29 is to continue to sketch and learn how to draw for at least 15 minutes every day. Inspiration and RecommendationsArt without an audience is still art.A great video about shouting into the void. When you think your art doesn't matter because the numbers on your socials don't go up.
