Creative Reflections: Weekly Edition Issue #28

Read on my website

Hey there!

Week 26 of 2025 was a good week for my creativity. The goal I always set for myself for each week is to try to get 1% better. Just 1%. And if I don't manage to do that, then I try to make sure I do it the next week.

It's demotivating when you don't reach your goals every week.

That's what I've been struggling with. Constant disappointment because I wasn't meeting the standards that I set for myself. I thought, at first, I was putting too much on my plate. But when I tracked my time, I saw I wasted a lot of my free time.

What I needed to do was start small. So I started with tiny steps to build good habits, to make getting to work as easy as getting a cup of coffee. The hardest part when it comes to creating is getting started.

Start small. Then, build up when you have set the habit. Keep on moving up from there.

On Writing

I finished up my final essays on what I learned reading The Emotional Craft of Fiction. You can read them here:

I plan to continue to write up essays about what I've learned when it comes to creativity. I had a lot of fun with that.

The goal for Week 27 is to complete two essays, and finish writing my next short story.

On Design

I made it a priority to create two graphic designs for Week 26. I managed to do that, recreating the covers for 1984 and Brave New World. You can check out the designs here:

The goal for Week 27 is to create two more designs.

On Illustration

Now, here is where I improved from Week 25.

I sketched and progressed on the Beginner Road path from Artwod. I didn't do that last week. Little steps!

The goal for Week 27 is to learn from Artwod and sketch every day.

Feeling Stuck? Why Doing Things Differently Unlocks Creative Growth!

Often, we find ourselves stagnating. Stuck. Unable to create. Switch things up to reset your mind and get the creative juices flowing.

An interesting video showing the process of making music, and using that music as a backdrop. It's a fascinating video and I encourage you to check it out.
