Creative Reflections: Issue #23

Reflecting on Week 21 of 2025

Stories are meant to stir us.

Week 21 was interesting.

I completed the initial design of my personal website. I'm not happy with everything, but it will do for now. I would like to learn more about web design and change some things up.

The problem that often happens to me is when I find myself in a flow, I can't stop working on something. It's all I can think about.

Unfortunately, that came at a cost of other parts of my life.

Writing

I didn't work on the second short story for Alternate Tales of the Future at all this week.

I'm not sure what the blocker is. Why I'm not finding the time to sit down and work on the story. I need to understand what the hold up is.

However, I did write an essay called Why understanding your Why will bring clarity to your creative work. So I did get some writing in at the very least.

The goal for Week 22 is to write at least 1,000 words for the second short story I'm tentatively calling To Be Forgotten.

Design

I didn't complete a design I can easily plug, but I suppose my personal website can count.

If anything, I've become a bit interested in web design, and that's a thread I want to pull. I've been facing a bit of a rut when it comes to graphic design, so maybe this different route will get the creative juices flowing.

With that being said, here is my design goal for Week 22:

Copy a design you like and replicate it.

Illustration

Another week not drawing.

Again, my obsession with getting my personal website up and running meant drawing came to the wayside. But while working on my website, there were so many moments where I wish I could use my own illustrations as design elements.

Sigh.

I have to do a better job for Week 22 when it comes to developing my skills as an illustrator. If I want to be competent at drawing, I have to practice my skills.

The goal for Week 22 is to sketch for at least 15 minutes a day, or else I must donate to a charity I don't like.

Read Online Had a lot of fun with this one. I kept on seeing designs of fishes, and I wanted to try my own hand at it. Make a poster of a market somewhere. I just tried some different things. I did two other versions you can check out here. Typeface: Aoudax Unsubscribe · Preferences
